🏒 **What an incredible turnout for our free hockey camps!** 🏒
Over the past four weeks, we’ve welcomed **176 children** participants to our camps, with some loving it so much that some came back for more! 🌟
📍 **Here’s where our hockey stars came from:**
– **39%** live within 10 minutes walk of the pitch
– **65%** live within two milesIt was amazing to see the mix of experience:
– **48%** had never played before
– **24%** had only played once or twice or at schoolWe’re especially proud that a number of our participants came from communities identified as ‘deprived’ by the Indices of Multiple Deprivation, showing that hockey truly is a sport for everyone! 🙌
**Why do we do this?** Because we believe in the power of sport to bring people together, to inspire, and to create opportunities. Our goal is to make hockey accessible to all, no matter your background or experience. 🏑
And the best part? **Our weekly sessions start on 5th September**, and we can’t wait to see you there! All participants are more than welcome to join us as we continue to grow, learn, and have fun on the pitch! Want to find out more?! Just get in touch! 🙂

📣 Exciting Announcement! 📣We are thrilled to announce that Matt Godden has been appointed as the Head Performance Coach at Sheffield University Bankers Hockey Club (SUBHC)!
Matt has been instrumental in establishing our junior setup over the past year, and his extensive experience in coaching and captaining national league teams makes him the perfect fit for this role. In addition to his practical experience, Matt holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Advanced Sports Coaching Practice, ensuring he brings both knowledge and passion to our club.
Many of you will remember Matt as the captain of SUBHC M1s, where he was a vital part of the team from 2010 to 2017. We’re delighted to welcome him back in a new capacity, where he’ll be leading our Performance squad with support from the coaching team.
Matt shared his enthusiasm about his new role:
“Having spent a number of happy seasons at Bankers between 2010 and 2017, I’m excited to be returning to a role at the club. I’ve been very impressed with the vision I have seen from SUBHC, not least in the work that has gone into the formation of a junior section in the last year. My aim is to provide a focus and direction to the senior performance teams. I’m looking forward to getting started with both players and coaches as the groundwork for the 2024-25 season gets underway.”

🌟 What an incredible start to our summer sessions! 🌟Huge thanks to The Wolf Academy for leading the coaching, our amazing volunteers who lent their support, and Sport England for the grant that made it all possible! 🙌🏑 We had 84 kids come and enjoy our wonderful sport, with 70% having either never played or only once or twice before!
We had an amazing time and we’re just getting started – 3 more camp dates to come! It’s gonna be a busy and exciting summer! 🏅🔥

Summer Hockey Camp Bookings Are Now Open! 🏑Sheffield University Bankers Hockey Club, in partnership with The Wolf Academy, is thrilled to announce that bookings for our FREE summer hockey camps are now open! Thanks to a generous grant from England Hockey, we’re able to offer these sessions at no cost for the second year in a row! 🎉
Join us for fun, engaging, and beginner-friendly hockey sessions at Sport Sheffield’s Norton Sports Park on Warminster Road. Whether you’re new to the sport or looking to brush up on your skills, these camps are perfect for you!
📅 Camp Dates and Age Groups:
Monday, July 29th: U8 and U10 (Current School Years Reception to Year 4)
Monday, August 5th: U12 and U14 (Current School Years Year 5 to Year 9)
