We caught up with Ladies’ 4th XI Captain, Sophie, to look back on a brilliant season for the Ladies’ 4s which was one built on fun, inclusivity, and a team that’s all about backing each other.

Moment of the Season 🏆

For Sophie, it had to be Maya’s debut.

“I drafted one of our juniors, Maya, for her first ever adult hockey game…”

You wouldn’t have known it:
“It felt like she’d been playing with us all season.”

Cool, confident… and then:
“She scored a hat-trick!! Couldn’t be prouder.”

A great reflection of the team too:
“We’re welcoming and inclusive… all here to support each other.”

Best Game 🔥

Chapeltown at home (21st March).

“Immaculate vibes… the team gelled really well and banter start to finish.”

With a small fansoc (feat. @nutsokiwi 👀) and a win to top it off 🤩

“It sums up the 4s – fun Saturday hockey, low pressure and lots of laughs.”

Toughest Opponent ⚔️

Phoenix.

“They play differently to the other teams.”

After a tough first game, the team adapted:
“We changed strategy later in the season and it worked well.”

But still a challenge
“nifty stick & ball skills… and they take it more seriously than we do 🤣”
